The 23rd South East Asia-Pacific Audio Visual Archive Association (SEAPAVAA) Conference and General Assembly will take place from 25-30 June in Noumea, New Caledonia. This SEAPAVAA Conference will  explore the theme of “Memory, History, and Archives”. The event will provide a platform for like-minded individuals and institutions to engage with one another, share knowledge and exchange ideas, and address challenges and issues within the field of audio-visual archives in particular as well as the larger field of archives.

President-elect Christine Mackenzie will speak at SEAPAVAA on the role of libraries in preserving cultural memory. The importance of libraries as repositories of documentary heritage and cultural memory is one of the ten highlights and opportunities identified through the IFLA Global Vision Project. Her presentation will describe what IFLA is doing in this area and will also look at the role of the Pacific Libraries Network in preserving and promoting cultural memory in the region.
