If information is power, then democracy – the power of the people – depends on access to information for all.

To celebrate International Democracy Day 2018, IFLA has put together an article, drawing on presentations made at World Library and Information Congresses and satellite meetings (notably those organised by the Libraries and Research Services for Parliaments Section), sharing examples of how libraries make this happen.

The article looks not only at how libraries help parliamentarians do their jobs, but also at how they work with the broader population to promote transparency, understanding and democratic engagement.

You can download the article as a pdf, and find out more about the Section on Libraries and Research Services for Parliaments.
