9th Eurasian Academic Libraries Conference (EALC – 2020) 30 September – 2 October, (online), Nur-Sultan, Kazakhstan

In light with the growing global concern related to the spread of the COVID-19 (Coronavirus), as a precautionary measure, the Steering Committee of the Eurasian Academic Libraries Conference (EALC) has decided to reschedule the annual conference from June 16-19, 2020 to September 30 - October 2, 2020. The conference will take place online.

KUALA LUMPUR, UNESCO WORLD BOOK CAPITAL 2020

On World Book and Copyright Day, 23 April 2020, Kuala Lumpur officially becomes UNESCO World Book Capital 2020. It is the 20th city to be named the title as announced by UNESCO Director General Audrey Azoulay on 19 September 2018 on the recommendation by the World Book Capital Advisory Panel that consists of UNESCO, IFLA and International Publishers Association (IPA). Athens, Greece and Sharjah, UAE were the 18th and 19th World Book Capital cities respectively.

Maintaining our services at a time with uncertain health risk is a challenge most of us seldom encounter in our career. However, our libraries did face such a challenge twice, once during SARS (Severe acute respiratory syndrome) outbreak in 2003, and now the current COVID-19 pandemic.
