  • ALA Office of Intellectual Freedom
    The Office for Intellectual Freedom of the American Library Association. The goal of the office is to educate librarians and the general public about the nature and importance of intellectual freedom in libraries.
  • Amnesty International
    A worldwide campaigning movement that works to promote all the human rights enshrined in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights and other international standards. In particular, Amnesty International campaigns to free all prisoners of conscience.
  • Article 19
    Named after Article 19 of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, the organisation works worldwide to combat censorship by promoting freedom of expression and access to official information.
  • Berkman Center for Internet and Society at Harvard University
    A network of faculty, students, fellows, entrepreneurs, lawyers, and virtual architects working to identify and engage with the challenges and opportunities of cyberspace.
  • Center for Democracy and Technology
    A non-profit public interest organization working to enhance free expression and privacy in communications technologies by finding practical and innovative solutions to public policy challenges while protecting civil liberties.
  • Committee to Protect Journalists
    A non-profit organization founded to promote press freedom worldwide by defending the rights of journalists to report the news without fear of reprisal.
  • Derechos Human Rights
    An Internet based human rights organization working for the promotion and respect of human rights all over the world, for the right to privacy and against impunity for human rights violators.
  • Electronic Privacy Information Center
    A public interest research center established in 1994 to focus public attention on emerging civil liberties issues and to protect privacy, the First Amendment, and constitutional values.
  • Electronic Frontier Foundation
    A non-profit, non-partisan organization working in the public interest to protect fundamental civil liberties, including privacy and freedom of expression in the arena of computers and the Internet.
  • Global Internet Liberty Campaign
    A coalition of civil liberties and human rights organizations fighting censorship and advocating the freedom of expression and other human rights on the Internet and in online communication.
  • Human Rights Internet
    HRI is dedicated to the empowerment of human rights activists and organizations, and to the education of governmental and intergovernmental agencies and officials and other actors in the public and private sphere, on human rights issues and the role of civil society.
  • Human Rights Watch
    Human Rights Watch is dedicated to protecting the human rights of people around the world supporting victims and activists, investigating and exposing violations, holding abusers accountable and challenging governments to respect international human rights law. 
  • International Federation for Human Rights
    An international NGO defending all civil, political, economic, social and cultural rights, set out in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights.
  • International Federation of Journalists
    It promotes international action to defend press freedom and social justice through strong, free and independent trade unions of journalists.
  • International Freedom of Expression Exchange (IFEX)
    IFEX is an electronic network that distributes alerts on free-expression violations around the world. Managed by Canadian Journalists for Free Expression, the IFEX alert service relies on reports and press releases from IFEX’s 88 member organisations.
  • International PEN
    A worldwide non-governmental association of writers, promoting co-operation among writers everywhere, regardless of their political or other views, fighting for freedom of expression and defending vigorously writers suffering from oppressive regimes.
  • Internet Education Foundation
    A non-profit organization dedicated to educating the public and policymakers about the potential of a decentralized global Internet to promote communications, commerce and democracy.
  • Internet Free Expression Alliance
    Alliance working to ensure the continuation of the Internet as a forum for open, diverse and unimpeded expression and to maintain the vital role the Internet plays in providing an efficient and democratic means of distributing information around the world.
  • Reporters without Borders
    Defending press freedom and the right to be informed, RSF is an organisation officially recognised as serving the public interest.
  • Sociedad Interamericana de Prensa
    A non-profit organization devoted to defending freedom of speech and freedom of the press in the Americas.
