Social Media, Children and Young Adults @ the Library – Safety, Privacy and Online Behavior
Statement on Social media concentrates on children’s and young adults safety, privacy and online behavior and it was approved on IFLA WLIC at Cape Town, 2015. The statement has a message for the children: how to enjoy online resources safely and responsibly, and how to deal with possible unpleasant situations. The statement also provides tips for the parents and library professionals on how to support children and young people utilize the possibilities of learning, entertainment and communication online safely.
The statement is meant to be read at the library, together with the young patrons and their parents. The document was prepared in a working group among IFLA Section Libraries for Children and Young Adults.
