Building Back Better with Africa’s Libraries

Even before COVID-19, the UN’s 2030 Agenda represented an ambitious set of priorities for the world. With the pandemic still ongoing, the need to accelerate efforts to deliver development is going to be stronger still, in Africa and globally.

Libraries have a huge potential to help here, by providing the meaningful access to information that enables people to create, innovate, take better decisions, and fulfil their rights.

This side event, held in the margins of the African Regional Forum for Sustainable Development, will bring together library representatives from across Africa to talk about the importance of information for development, the impact of COVID, and the practical steps that governments and others can take to realise the potential of libraries and information in supporting COVID response and recovery.
