IFLA has joined partners in the #Culture2030Goal campaign to produce a statement on the role of culture in the response to COVID-19.

Alongside the vital work being done by healthcare workers and others involved in keeping people healthy and safe, we must remember and highlight the importance of culture in realising key goals such as well-being, social cohesion and resilience.

The statement underlines these points and calls for culture to be incorporated into government strategies both for the short-term response to the pandemic, and long-term recovery planning. It calls in particular for the inclusion of culture in any revisions to the national development plans created in the context of the United Nations 2030 Agenda.

The statement is open for endorsements by interested organisations and individuals via this form.
