Being a member of IFLA's Governing Board for the period 2011-2013, it is a great honour for me to stand today for a second term.
During the last two years, I have been particularly involved in the Finance Committee, in the working group of the International leadership Programme (Key Initiative 2), and have been Chairing the Trend Report Project which first results will be launched during the WLIC 2013 in Singapore. It has been a challenging and exciting time, and I hope that my dedication contributed to the success of IFLA and its projects.
For the second term, my intention would be to build on these first results, continue the work on the Trend Report, promote the libraries' role in democracy and their responsibility in preserving the public informational and cultural goods, and further help IFLA reach out to libraries and librarians all around the world. In this regard, the IFLA 2014 conference being held in my home country, I would feel a particular responsibility but also the greatest pleasure to welcome you all in the beautiful town of Lyon and help making the 2014 conference an unforgettable one.
If elected, I will use my energy for the success of these programmes and conference, while encouraging new ideas and projects to rise up for the benefit of our Federation and our profession.
I most sincerely thank you for your support.
