India Public Libraries Conference (IPLC) 2016 is the second in the series supported by the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation to improve the lives of people by repositioning public libraries as community assets and providers of information through relevant technologies. In 2015, the 1st IPLC was organised on the theme: ‘Transforming Public Libraries in India: Envisioning the Future’. Keeping in view the recommendations of the 1st IPLC, the 2nd edition of IPLC is looking more specifically into the issues of technology, content and services in order to find ways and means to see how public libraries can be repositioned to inspire their outlook and stay focused towards their services.

IPLC serves as a multi-stakeholder platform to engage various National and International public library stakeholders across sectors, discuss challenges and opportunities, share knowledge, innovations and best practices in the public libraries domain. IPLC is part of the India Public Libraries Movement (IPLM) being supported by the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation to re-energise the Indian public libraries, and revamp, equip them to become relevant to the needs of 21st century. IPLC 2016 is scheduled for three days from 7-9, March 2016. On first two days it will be held at the India International Centre where distinguished speakers from India and other countries will deliberate on various themes and sub-themes of IPLC 2016.
