International Advocacy Programme (IAP): Ten projects now under way
Earlier this year, IFLA launched a worldwide call for proposals to request funding for the implementation of regional or national awareness-raising and capacity building activities for 2017-2018, as part of the International Advocacy Programme (IAP).
A record number of proposals were submitted (115 from all regions in the world) showing the great commitment of the library and information community to ensure libraries are involved in the United Nations 2030 Agenda planning and implementation at the local, regional and global level.
All proposals were carefully analysed by the IFLA IAP Steering Committee, with the support of IFLA’s Manager for Development Programmes.
Preference was given to proposals from library associations, national libraries, and the public library sector. Regional proposals involving countries that hadn't take part in any of the IAP Regional Workshops organised by IFLA in 2016-2017 were also preferred.
The ten funding proposals selected aim to continue showing libraries’ contribution to the UN 2030 Agenda, and to advocate for libraries to be recognised as government partners to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) by their inclusion in National Development Plans.
A regional distribution of the selected proposals is as follows:

About the International Advocacy Programme (IAP)
The IFLA IAP is a capacity-building programme designed to promote and support the role libraries can play in the planning and implementation of the United Nations 2030 Agenda and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
Through the IAP, IFLA aims to establish an engaged community of advocates who will clearly articulate the significant opportunities to increase the profile and highlight the positive impact of library and information professionals in the achievement of the SDGs.
