Workshop on revising the IFLA/UNESCO School Library Guidelines.
We hope many people will wish to participate in the IFLA Section for School Libraries’ workshop on revising the IFLA/UNESCO School Library Guidelines at the Singapore National Library on Wednesday 21 August at 13.00 -16.00. For more information please contact the section chair Randi Lundvall
The IFLA/UNESCO School Library Manifesto: the school library in teaching and learning for all was published in 2000. It has been extremely well received all over the world and translated into many languages. New translations continue to be made and librarians all over the world are using the manifesto to raise the profile of school libraries in their own schools, own regions and own countries. The guidelines were produced in 2002 to inform decision makers at national and local levels around the world, and to give support and guidance to the library community. They have been written to help schools to implement the principles expressed in the manifesto. Now in 2013 it is time to take a look at the guidelines and make sure they are timely and appropriate for the modern world.
We hope to see many delegates at the workshop. The Singapore National Library is close to the conference site, the library being approximately 900m (12 mins) by foot. Directions for walking are available here.
