New Publications and an Update from School Libraries Section
The latest edition of the Section Newsletter is available - packed full of news and reports from around the world. Articles include a cooperative project between schools in India and Scotland, a Reading Battle in Portugal and international conference reports.
A new translation of the School Library Guidelines - in Turkish - has been added to the website. Huge thanks to Muhittin Gurbuz, Research Assistant / Librarian Periodicals & E-Resources Department of the Middle East Technical University Library in Ankara, Turkey for this.
Have you registered for the joint IFLA-IASL workshop on Advocacy for School Libraries? If you have, thank you; if you have not, it is not too late to do so. In case you missed the earlier announcements, the IFLA Section on School Libraries and Resource Centers and the International Association of School Librarianship (IASL) and will be holding a joint workshop on Advocacy for School Libraries on 24 August 2013 in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. The workshop serves as an IFLA post-conference satellite meeting, and an IASL pre-conference workshop.
The workshop will examine ways and means of enhancing advocacy efforts for school libraries. Join us to learn from renowned library leaders as well as emerging professionals, and share experiences on how to get more support for school library development.
Note that there are two workshops on Advocacy:
- A one-day workshop on 24 August in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, which is more generic and hands-on, but will discuss the joint IFLA-IASL Project “School Libraries on the Agenda”
- A half-day workshop on 26 August in Bali, which will focus more on IFLA-IASL project “School Libraries on the Agenda”.
To register (for free!) please email Lourense Das at firstname.lastname@example.org with the subject line ‘School libraries on the agenda’.
We look forward to seeing you in Kuala Lumpur and in Bali.
