In Athens, Greece, librarians from around the world showed their inventiveness and persistance in advocating for libraries. Through a series of short presentations, they looked to inspire colleagues everywhere to get involved themselves.

Following up on the success of the session at the 2018 World Library and Information Congress (WLIC), 2019 saw a second edition.

Ten librarians from around the world had just four minutes each to share their great ideas for advocacy, and to inspire others. Most focused on the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, and the opportunities this had created to build new links with government, and bring the library message to new audiences.

Attendees heard about how libraries had formed alliances across government, had used a cascade model to mobilise more members of the progression, and planned to celebrate SDG Action Week at the end of September with awareness-raising campaigns in hundreds of libraries.
